Second Orthodox Youth Conference in Istanbul ( 15.07.2007 )

The Ecumenical Patriarchate, under the auspices and blessing of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch BARTHOLOMEW, organized the 2nd International Orthodox Youth Conference. The theme of the Conference was: «Members of the Church – Citizens of the World». In the Conference participated young men and women from all of the Holy Metropolitanates of the Ecumenical Throne from all around the world, from the sister Orthodox Churches, from various Monastic Brotherhoods and Sisterhoods, from other Christian Churches and Confessions, from Orthodox Theological Faculties, Academies, Institutes and Seminaries, from International Ecclesiastical Organizations, Youth Associations and Cultural Institutions, as well from the local Christian Churches.

       

 

 

 

                                               

 

In his welcome message, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew said: “The Conference will refer to and discuss the challenges and problems to which young people as members of the Church and citizens of the world are exposed today. Moreover, there will be various presentations regarding the youth and their Orthodox witness in a pluralistic society, their relation and responsibility to the world and to society in particular, their being and coexisting with people of other faiths in Diaspora, environmental issues of today, issues of social justice and human rights in relation to the secularization and globalization, Orthodox spirituality and models of holiness, war and peace as factors for the future of the ecumenical movement and the dialogue with other Christian youth today.”
