Bulgarian Patriarch Maxim celebrates 95th birthday ( 30.10.2009 )

At October the 29th at the day of his 95th birthday, the Bulgarian Patriarch Maxim, sanctified the recently built temple of Saint Marina in the Holy Sofia’s Diocese area. The Patriarch’s Holy Liturgy has been celebrated with the presence of the members of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, a vast number of vicar bishops and a lot of faithful people gathering, as well.

The Patriarch’s Liturgy was followed by members of the Bulgarian Government and the Bulgarian Parliament, as well as the Russian Ambassador in Bulgaria Mr. G. Isakov.

After the finish of the Liturgy and the Supplicant prayer, the Metropolitan of Ruse Neophytus saluted the Head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church on behalf of the Archpriests, the clergy and the congregation.

Finally, it is important to notice that the letters with greetings coming from the Patriarch of Moscow and whole Russia Cyril and the President of the Foreign Church Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchy, Archbishop Volkolamskii Hillarion has been read by hieromonk Zotik (Gaevski), who is performing the duty of a treasurer in the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Sofia.
