The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church arranged meeting ( 22.06.2009 )

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church held its conference at the days of 18 and 19 of June under presidency of the Romanian Patriarch Daniel.

 

The Synod brought resolution to proclaim the year of 2010 as the year of the Creed and the year of the Autocephaly of the Romanian Church. This, in the occasion of the celebration of the 1685 anniversary of the year of the First Ecumenical Assembly meeting in Nikea (325) and the 125 anniversary of the recognition of the autocephaly of the Romanian Orthodox Church. Both anniversaries happen to be in the year to come.

 

By decision of the Holy Synod, saint Ioanakii New Mushkelski has been canonised. The day of the celebration of this feast is to be 26th of July.

 

The criteria of promoting Dioceses in rank of Archdiocese have been determined on this session. In addition, the Holy Synod promoted several dioceses in rank of archdiocese. Archbishops Justinian Maramureshki and Satmarulski, and Bishop John Kovashiski and Hargitski have been awarded for their work and merits.

 

A Diocese of Deva and Hunedoara was formed, with the residency in the city of Deva and with a jurisdiction over the Hunedoara area.

 

The Synod has also decided the Constitution of the organisation and functioning of the Orthodox Diocese in Italy.

 

It has been also precised about the measures of the administration and financial discipline in the Church, at all levels and in accordance with the Church Law and the effectual legislative.

 

The Synod elected new archpriests for the empty pulpits in the Church hierarchy.
