Delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church visits Greece ( 23.06.2006 )

At the invitation by the Greek Archbishop Christodoulos and with the blessing by the Russian Patriarch Alexy II, a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church visited Greece from 17-21 June this year. The aim of the visit was participation in the festivities on the translation of the relics of Saint Arsenius of Elasona, presented to the Greek Orthodox Church on 8 June in the Moscow church of Christ the Saviour by the Russian Patriarch. Both the leader of the Russian delegation, Archbishop Evlogy of Suzdal and Vladimir, and the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Christodoulos in their addresses underlined the “spiritual unity between the two fraternal Orthodox Churches” and expressed their wish, at the prayers of saint Arsenius the brotherly orthodox nations to become more closely united in spirit, bearing witness to the universal character of the Orthodox faith.
