“Asterfest” in Strumica ( 29.05.2009 )

Today, by blessing of the Metropolitan of Strumica Diocese Nahum, a Life Story portrait of the well-known Bulgarian Movie Director Rangel Volchanov took place in the Monastery of the Most Holy Mother of God Eleusa, Strumica. At the very opening of the Fifth Strumica Film Festival “Asterfest”, the prestigious award “Aster” being the unique gratitude for high achievements at the field of author’s films, has been granted to Mr. Volchanov. He has been working both in the field of feature-length and documentary movies. His works has been presented in the festivals of Cannes, Moscow, Melbourne, Karlovi Vari and got prestigious awards on some of them.

“Asterfest” is the only festival in the region, where the short-length and documentary movies are presented. According to the organisers, most of these films were presented for the first time in Macedonia, though they are well-known works, already taking presence in many such festivals, and getting many awards there.
