He was a leader of a robbers' band around Hermopolis in Egypt and at an older age he came to his senses, repented and became a monk. The Holy Archangel Gabriel appeared to him and granted him the power to work miracles. He died peacefully in the sixth century, after he had made himself worthy of the Heavenly Kingdom by his great struggle.
